<subject>Love Beyond Time</subject>
<event>
Love Beyond Time by Redwin Tursor We think we know time. What do we know? Who can truly understand The span of a million years? How many summers Destroy a mountain? The span of void Between the sands On an electron Is vast towards infinity All of solid matter around Us is filled with void The stars span so much Space that light itself Takes years Searing forth In its infinite speed to Dazzle us Under the night sky. My love for you Is no longer Bound by just one lifetime Transcending every breath Overcoming every death The cycle is unbroken The circle overcomes The line of time is ended The cleaving of hope Transcended One heart One mind One love One Joy One Miracle One Spirit One Goal One Direction Now We Know Which Way We Go. When I ask the question Where will I be In a million years Now I know the answer. I will be spending it With You.

<subject>Memorable Quotes from "Magnum Force"</subject>
<event>
Jennifer and I just watched "Magnum Force" a film from 1973 starring Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry. The following quotes are verbatim from the 'memorable quotes' section on the special features on the DVD. These are all quotes that appeared in the movie. "Either you are for us or against us." "A good man always knows his limitations." "Nothing is wrong with shooting as long as the right people get shot." "Read my lips." "Try knocking on the door." We now know where our foreign policy is being set. Perhaps I should write a script called, "The President Resigns".

<subject>He does what he says.</subject>
<event>
Recently, President Bush was recorded saying a certain swear word on national television. This is the man who read 'My Pet Goat' for 15 minutes when told the world was falling apart. This is the man that played cowboy on his ranch for days while people were drowning in New Orleans. This is the man about whom I am getting emails from LDS friends making jokes about how the media 'distorts' President Bush. This is the man who is <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/07/18/stranded.family/index.html">doing exactly what he says</a>, what he's shoveling and what his entire administration smells like. <lj-cut> I understand that there are two sides to every argument. I understand that it should be a heavy priority of the United States to broker peace there, and that we can definately do so if we want. I understand that Americans are not inherantly 'better' than other people, and that the fact that (and I am sometimes guilty of this) the first thing we ask is not how many people died, but how many Americans.... But having said that.....while Americans are not better than others, our government is supposed to be. We are supposed to have a reputation that our government will go in and get its civilians and if necessary go to war to defend them when threatened, attacked or intimidated by dictators. Most of these people were HELPING Lebanon, either directly as aid workers (I know someone who is there right now though we haven't communicated in years) or indirectly as tourists bringing in much needed support to the Lebanese economy. Tonight I'm writing a lot of emails to put pressure on the Deciderer to do something about the people who are trapped over there. We don't need another Katrina.</lj-cut>

<subject>So....your hand is caught in a bandsaw</subject>
<event>
Multiple Choice Test: So...you are doing carpentry, and your sleeve gets caught in a bandsaw....it has already cut off half of one of your fingers.....you realize that you are about to go into shock, so you, through an act of will, carefully turn the machine off and take your fingers out. How do you describe this action? A)You are 'cutting and running like a yellow bellied coward.' B)Idiot! You should have tried to stop the bandsaw by pushing your hand farther in and blocked the wheel with your finger. Once it was cut off it would get caught in the mechanism of the machine and then jam it up. C)Sane. The Answer is: <lj-cut> C. Now to those who will say the analogy is inappropriate, I answer: S: It will make us appear weak in front of the islamic world! This will only stir them up more! A: Yes. It will. Then again, bombing mosques, hospitals and private houses will do this too. At precisely what point of 'showing them we are not weak' do you expect the local inhabitants of Iraq to say, 'Wow...you guys aren't so weak after all. Ok, we'll stop sympathizing with Al Queda.' S: Too many of our soldiers have already died! If we leave now, it will mean their deaths were in vain! A: See Bandsaw explanation above. S: God wants us to be in Iraq! A: Show me the religious leader (that doesn't own their own private swimming pool) that is endorsing this war. There are far more religious leaders condeming the war than there are in favor of it. Last time I checked the bible, if God is directing a war, He offers specific actions that can be taken to ensure victory.....this is just a perpetual bloodbath and carnage. There is no direction, there is no goal, there is only carnage and chaos. And while my relgious leaders are very patriotic and support our nation, last time I checked, every time I have heard them speak on this, it has been, "The Lord may be" or "This could be". They have made no definitive statement about the justness of this war. S: We're at war! Don't question the Commander and Chief when he is at war! A: So if Bill Clinton had declared war on Every Nation But Ours, committing us to a 10000 year Jihad against the rest of the planet Earth for our children and their children's children, do you honestly think that the Republicans and people who listen to Rush Limbaugh would have stood by quietly and supported him for the good of the country? They sure didn't during Kosovo. In fact, ANY test they use regarding our need to support Bush has to be applied to Clinton first. Anything you say we need to do for Bush, I turn around and say, 'Would you have done it with Clinton...even BEFORE he had sex with an intern in the White House?' The answer is....Definately not. </lj-cut>
