<subject>The Problem with being the 9/11 Gollum.</subject>
<event>
Gollum, hideous figure from the Lord of the Rings that says the word "Gollum" every 3-4 words. Rudy Guliani, the real life 9/11 Gollum that says a Noun, a Verb and 9/11 in any sentence. But remember that Rephuklycans are also mindless drones that must repeat all talking points. What happens to the poor 9/11 gollum when you add another word for him to say. "Excuse 9/11 Palin, me 9/11 Palin, I 9/11 Palin, need 9/11 Palin to 9/11 Palin go 9/11 Palin to 9/11 Palin the 9/11 Palin little 9/11 Palin Rephuklycan's 9/11 Palin room." <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080903/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_giuliani_palin;_ylt=AqiLgEChcfnz6.932.6vVQRsnwcF">Rudy says that Palin ready for 9/11</a>

At least according to this neutral and totally unbiased report. But are they being fair to her? After all, the <a href="http://lovely-fatima.livejournal.com/252154.html?thread=976378#t976378">Liberal Media</a> can't be trusted. <subject>Wheat From the Chaff</subject>
<event>
<a href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20080907/pl_politico/13228">There comes a time</a> when there must be a testing....where you learn the true nature of a person. If I know you, and you claim to pay attention to the news AT ALL, and you claim that you are an independent, not a Republican; which includes Libertarians or Greens or whatever it may be... And you think Sarah Palin is a good choice for VP, then I know the true measure of your character. Call it arrogant, call it harsh, but I am reminded once of a Microsoft Word test I took at a temp agency. I took it very very fast and I surprised them. They asked how I finished so fast, and I simply said, "You either know it or you don't." You either know this or you don't. You either see what I see, or you aren't looking at the world the same way. You can disagree with me on anything you like, but if we have common ground that allows me to think I can honestly work with you, you either see this...or you don't.... Or you simply aren't paying attention. After the last 8 years, if you aren't paying attention....that says a lot too. It just says something different. And I guess that does make me arrogant, but then, life is short. You only get one. I have no more time to waste. I'm ending no friendships. I'm not 'cutting anyone off' but I am simply not going to discuss your religion with you, because you take it on faith, not reason. Discussing someone's faith on matters of reason is a total waste of time. You can be a conservative. Ron Paul and I would radically and violently disagree on things, but Ron Paul isn't endorsing Bush and he isn't endorsing McCain. You either see it. Or you don't. I don't bother to argue religion with people. Its just a religion you don't know you have. The Rephuklycan church.

<subject>What to Do</subject>
<event>
The key to me became obvious on Friday when I was emotionally ill and basically focused on spreading the "Sarah Palin Shoots Wolves in a Helicopter Meme". I must have posted it 200 times all over the internet everywhere I could find. It felt good but seemed largely pointless until I noticed one thing that one of the people I was arguing with on a newspaper site didn't even notice. We'd exchanged about a 100 posts on this site, with me posting 50 and her posting 50 back and forth and back and forth she went, but I posted "Sarah Palin Shoots Wolves From a Helicopter" in all of them. And at the end of the day, she believed it was true but still contrasted her own point. Changing their minds might be impossible, because of the sheer mechanized way they repeated it, but if you are going to argue with someone who thinks Palin is a good VP (ie Chaff) then you need to repeat the same 2-3 things 10-20 times so that they believe it. They might pass it on like cockroaches carrying poison bait back to the queen. Remember, they are now conditioned to believe that anything you repeat many many times is true. Repeat it often enough, and they will believe literally anything with no reason involved. The other thing I have learned is stop trying to convince friends and family. You are fighting a disease. This requires ruthless efficiency and determination, and you are going to hold back, like I have held back, in talking with friends and family because of a desire to maintain those bonds. Find people and places that you have no tie to, and confront them there. This is the only small chance there is to stave off the new dark age. But hey, I'm probably just deluding myself. That's certainly what the Chaff belief.

<subject>Why I stopped worrying and learned to love the Mob</subject>
<event>
To gain the IQ of a mob, take the Average IQ of a mob and divide it by the number of people in it. Time has once again proved me right, with a study showing <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080910/ap_on_go_co/oil_speculation">speculators</a> are behind high oil prices. Gee. Water is wet. So, perhaps many other unpleasant truths that are not popular with the public or popular with science are true. I am holding many of my new opinions to myself, but after seeing the way the US population has behaved with regards to Palin, I am starting to care less, simply because of how EASILY I see people are manipulated. Hope? I'm going to vote for Obama in November so I can live with myself, but the truth is that I am a rising (economically speaking) white male with (soon) a graduate degree. I'M not the one that has to deal with a glass ceiling. I'M not the one without insurance (anymore). I'M not affected by many of these policies. Oh sure, the U.S. is going down the toilet, and I feel bad for my children, but....I'm going to do everything in my power to turn back the tide, and I will know in my heart I truly did as much as I could...while at the same time becoming virtually convinced that quite frankly, even if Obama succeeds, the nation doesn't deserve him. We really AREN'T worthy. So if people are going to ignore their common sense, then I'm sorry, I'm done feeling sorry for them. I will, for my own sake, and because of the choice of who I want to be, work to make the world a better place, but I have lost my last night of sleep over people who really quite frankly don't even give a damn about themselves. When you train a life guard, you ensure that they learn to not let the drowning man pull you under. You try to save the drowning man but you keep your head. If people want to drown themselves, I will warn, I will shout, but I'm not drowning with you. Not anymore. Not after seeing you refuse to accept what is so utterly in front of your face. You're not worth it.

<subject>So I can say "I Told My So"</subject>
<event>
I was quite satisfied at not having voted for Bush. I have never really held it against someone who voted for Bush in 2000, because the main thing that turned me against him was an obscure footnote about a book that he could make disappear. 2004, of course, was a much different story. 2008 is so obvious that it shouldn't even be a question. So let me just give you three reasons, which by themselves should be enough to vote for Obama. 1)Governor Palin is a sociopath. Anyone who understands what is involved with the Aeral Hunting of Wolves understands the kind of mentality that is involved in defending it. Look at Bush's cabinet. Look at McCain's first choice for Vice President. Even if you still like McCain, don't buy for a moment that the people he'll put in his cabinet will be any different than the kinds of people in Bush's cabinet. 2)I was a fan of John McCain. I wanted him to be president. I voted for him in 2000 in the Republican Primary. I have been watching him closely for 8 years. If you think he's the same man he was in 2000, you are SORELY mistaken. For him to reverse course on TORTURE, even if it was only for the CIA as compared to the Military is a radical departure. I have seen him attack the internet and freedom of speech. 3)If you care about the Constitution, we need someone to hold Bush and those who have broken the law accountable. Do you REALLY honestly think that John McCain is going to go after Bush? Honestly? Do you really think that? This is not to convince anyone. In my immediate circle, there is no one I know of who is still trying to decide who they favor. This is my way to laugh at the world at anyone who in 2009 says, "Darn it. McCain is a jerk. Why did we vote for him again?" Then again, to be fair, if you say, "McCain is great!" The odds are rather likely I'll be laughing at you too. Of course, hey, maybe he'll be another Teddy Roosevelt....I give it 100 to 1 odds against but look at a picture of McCain in 2007 vs a picture now. I wouldn't lay good money on Mr. McCain making it to 2012. And Palin is definitely not Teddy Roosevelt.

<subject>The Sin of Neutrality</subject>
<event>
Revelations 3: 15-19 "15: I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16: So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. 17: Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: 18: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. 19: As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent." I speak not to those of you who patiently and carefully weigh both sides of an issue, for the Lord God gave us a sense of reason, but instead to those who claim comfort in their sarcasm and cynicism of the system. I know cynicism my friend, for I have (to my mind at least) been betrayed by the men I most trusted with my faith. And as such, I have sworn that I will never again put my faith in men, but only in God. I am guilty of this to a lesser degree. When I am with my conservative friends, I tend to focus more on the things that we have in common. We both want smaller government. We both believe in the second amendment as it applies to self defense. We also agree that letting children starve to death is bad. There is nothing wrong with wanting to conform to a group. But there also comes a time when you must stand up and do what is right. The science fiction writer Isaac Asimov was famous for his stories involving robots. These robots created a mirror of humanity which he could use to explore ethical dilemas. All robots in his world followed three basic laws; the first of which is- "A robot may not harm or through inaction cause to harm, a human being." We are not robots, but this law, I counsel, applies to us. It is not merely through harm, but failure to act that that we can harm others. Switzerland remained neutral in WWII. They were spared by the ravages of war, but they also empowered the nazi leaders to hide stolen loot and property that it took decades to recover. There is nothing wrong with not taking sides in every fight. Really, does America want to be involved in the civil war between the Tamil Tigers and the Hindus on Sri Llanka? How does that affect us? But this election is here. It is now. And it is at home. To simply throw up one's hands and say "All politicians lie. All politicians are corrupt, therefore I need not choose sides" is a lie. And deep down, you know it is a lie. Many of you want to remain neutral so you can claim affiliation and acceptance with your liberal and your conservative friends. You can't do that anymore. Not this time. Oh, you CAN, but for my part at least, if you look at Palin and say, "Well all politicians are corrupt so it doesn't matter" then I know you are willfully lying to yourself. You saw what happened with Bush and you are deliberately lying to yourself and saying that you can't know the truth. Over the last 8 years, which news source have you trusted more; the mainstream media or Fox News? Which has proven more right about Bush; the mainstream media or the news? And bear in mind that yes, the mainstream media ignored Bush at first too but they're not ignoring Sarah Palin. John McCain chose Sarah Palin. So you either believe the media is lying about her or you don't. Its that simple. Use your god given reason...who can you believe. Christ preached love and peace, but when the money changes defiled his father's house, he calmly used his reason and made a whip. He then used that whip to cleanse them out of the temple. Christ was not a passive wimp. Christ understood that sometimes one must take action. Stand up and take a side. The Devil's greatest strategm is to appear as good and wear the skin of the righteous. Joshua 24: 15 "Choose you this day whom ye will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." The question you really have to ask yourself is which side truly represents Christ more: The Republicans.... or Barack Obama. Sometimes there is a black or white question. Sometimes there is only right or wrong. Sometimes inaction is in the wrong. Do as you will.

<subject>We speak of venting</subject>
<event>
As if it cleanses the soul....and at first, that did occur. But as I read my posts, I have come to realize...I'm convincing no one. I have convinced no one. What seems so obvious to me, so black and white, so day and night; good vs. evil, has no doubt turned many away from the very things I try to champion. My passion has exceeded my reason on this matter; make no mistake, my reason is quite clear when I am alone. This blog has allowed me to express these thoughts in a form that make logical sense to me, but sometimes an illusion can be damaging. The illusion that anyone out there is listening damages me, because it gives hope and as I learn time and time again, hope in anything save that which most needs it is a danger that I cannot afford. I have two very dear friends with whom I have deliberately cut off discourse. One because I sent him a link to a youtube video which I foolishly believed would convince him of something and the other because he sent an article I couldn't even read at the time, but after the fact realized was also a pro-mccain site. I had a choice...friendship...or continue to try and convince them of my views. I rant about how unreasoning these people are; and I'm sorry, but to me if you choose Sarah Palin, you aren't using reason. At all. But the truth is I also rationally know they feel the same way about me. They consider me unpatriotic and a baby killer; a flumoxish heretic who has abandoned his faith because of a flimsy political gesture. As time passes, I come to believe in God, but while I know the redeptive power of Christ is real, I make no claims to know much more beyond that. God loves me and all of us. I have strong reason to believe he does not interfere in our affairs in any way we can meaningfully comprehend. He might do it, but if you can never see it, at some point, does it matter? Knowing he loves me matters; knowing he may or may not be interfering in some way for my benefit ultimately doesn't. But it is a part of my life and my identity. My spirituality is part of who I am, and while much of it has been amputated by the lack of an iron clad cosmology that gave me every answer I could ever want; I only have a few things left. I want to do good in the world. Too much. I see evil and I want to fight against it. In some ways; everything I do is geared toward that...even my entertainment. It is my obsession and instead of a strength it projects arrogance to the world such that no one believes me when I speak with surity. I tell you, "Sarah Palin is a monster" and all you see is someone shouting something you already knew, or an arrogant bastard who thinks too highly of himself and of his opinion. I do believe in Christ the redeemer. We need absolution of guilt as human beings. There might be a tiny portion of humanity that belongs to the church of abject rationality, but based on my observation they're either assholes or overly guilty about everything. A force to ration that guilt and make it manageable is a biological and spiritual mandate. I do not believe my years of spiritual exploration were for nothing and that is one thing I have learned. Guilt is the acid of the human soul and must be cleansed. Either it is Christ or another spiritual ritual or a philosophy that rids one of guilt through mental meditation or exercise. I have no logical explanation for the miracles I have seen. A skeptic could dismiss them. They were not coincidences to me. When I started this blog, it was an exploration of truth, and finding a better way in America. That is the purpose of the title, to find and explore the true American philosophy. And I believed and believe I have found it, but ultimately I think the most wonderful thing about that philosophy is that all of us can find our own, can find our own truths. At what point does the freedom of your philosophy threaten mine? That is what this debate is about. I have chosen a side; though I have not embraced it as flawless. Upon reflection I have said nothing at this point that I can point to and say "This made that person's life better" and "This is by acclaimation of my peers the true American philosophy." Instead I tear my soul to pieces a little each day on the internet for all to see in macabre detail. The time has come for healing. I must walk away from this question for a time and seek wisdom, yet again, in the desert that is the Spirit and home of the sun. I will not shut down my other blogs, nor this one, but for a time I shall seek spiritual guidance in the walk about of the divine. In the meantime, I shall be working for the next two months for Senator Obama's campaign. I wish you well.

<subject>Three Truths</subject>
<event>
1) No man is perfect, but a lack of perceivable absolute truth does not mean that it does not exist. I fight for good. I am not perfect, but I do not have to be. We just finished watching the movie, "Amazing Grace" about Willian Wilberforce's fight to end the slave trade in Britain. Say what you want about the evils they committed as an empire, and they were many, they voluntarily recognized their sins and voted to outlaw the slave trade. But it was not an easy fight. It took years of hard work. It also, in the end, quite frankly took a bit of trickery. We had to fight the bloodiest war we ever fought. And deep down, they still won't own up to what they did. Not really. 2) There have been fuckers, there are fuckers, and more than likely, there will always be fuckers. Seriously. See the movie. You will be rather amazed at the same fuckery being administered by fucking fuckers who haven't got a fucking clue. The point being, that as much as it seems like it, the weight of human history says that the world will not end tomorrow. That does not mean that there is not urgency and timeliness to the fight. In William Wilberforce's day, every year the fuckers fucked around, slaves died. Even when they fucking got a fucking clue, it still took years to clean up their fuckups. 3) The Count of Monte Cristo didn't use the tunnel, but if he hadn't dug it, he would have been fucked. In the Count of Monte Cristo, he digs a tunnel for 10 years to get out of hell. During that time, he learns of skills and resources to help him achieve justice. On the night of his escape, the tunnel failed him but without the tunnel, he would not have been able to hide in the coffin of his dead friend and get out of there. So too, do the pointless rallies, petitions, letters, assemblies and efforts that the fuckers obviously ignore ultimately serve no direct purpose, but without them, the fuckers would win for that moment of flash and (I say divine) inspiration that allows an opportunity to be taken advantage of when you see it. Change will happen, but you have to be ready for it when it comes.

I guess I was too 'mean' and got moderated. <a href="http://caffertyfile.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/23/what-does-it-say-when-palin-is-meeting-heads-of-state-clinton-hosts-farm-day/#comments">Here is the question:</a> Here is the comment that never got approved: It shows that sometimes you can be so ‘objective’ that your head falls off. Why does 30% of this country believe any delusion the Republicans feed them? Because YOU keep giving them a window to talk about it. COME ON. This is the Sarah Palin Doll Parade. We could substitute her with Ronald McDonald and get the same positive publicity. And Ronald might actually answer questions.

Other major political headlines on their page: Bernake Talks of Grave Threats (Pro Bush) How would you spend 700 Billion? (Neutral/Meaningless) Warning Signs for McCain (Slightly Pro Obama, but really Neutral) What does Bill Clinton Think of Palin (Basically Pro Obama) Bridge Failed, but Road to Nowhere Built (Pro Obama) Dems Give in, Let Drilling Ban Pass (Pro McCain) And the headline of course. Nothing about Biden's speech, just this bullshit from the "Sunlight Foundation" who appears according to Wikipedia to be a legitimate organization, but Rephuklycans can usurp this kind of thing all the time, not to mention tiny little third parties often seek publicity rather than the greater good. Because, after all, there is 'no difference' between Republicans and Democrats right? They're just all politicians right? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. McCain has taken rather extreme risks in his campaign. He did it by selecting Sarah Palin. He did it by skipping a day in the Republican National Convention. He did it by skilling (to all appearances) the first debate. A pattern is emerging. McCain is a reckless gambler. Which means, what do you think his attitude is going to be towards: Russia. Iran. Europe. Venezuela. China. The Constitution. The Economy. Do you really want a gambler in charge of those things? Or do you want a professor?

We voted this morning. The line was moderately short (took about ten minutes) but there was a steady stream of people the entire time we were there. And this is more than a month early. Looks like turn out, for our county at least, may be rather high. I'm also glad we voted before hand. We have also decided on a firearm. I'll probably be ordering a shotgun over the internet. The "Mossberg 500" is cheap but highly effective. Given the multiple possibilities this month about what MIGHT go wrong, I just want to be sure. Eventually we want a rifle, but right now the shot gun is the best option for simple home defense. After investigating things with a friend of mine, a .22 caliber rifle has no recoil (which I LIKE) but it is a bit more than a glorified air rifle when it comes to impact. Sure it might do some damage, but its not really going to hit very hard. The problem is, that any rifle of a higher caliber will require practicing in an outdoor range much farther out of the city.
